Stenis
United States - August 19, 2002 at 11:49 PM EDT

Entry: 462

Well, basically yes, you are right. Dairy cows are big-boned, but are somewhat skinny and have larger nipples. Consequently, beef cows are fat (hense the fact we eat them) and have smaller nipples. They can however be milked; they just don't produce as much and it doesn't come out as easily...it's only enough to feed their calves.

J.A.G.
N.C., United States - August 19, 2002 at 9:02 PM EDT

So how are beef cows different from dairy cows? Is it the size of the nipple?

Bri- I just read the Farewell To Me page. Thanks so much for writing down what we could never say to each other in person! I'm very touched and I even teared up a little bit. I'm such a sap.

Thanks again to everybody who came out for my last show on June 29, and to all who've emailed and signed the Guestbook to wish me well. My last show was a very special time and I'll never forget it - at least, not the parts I remember anyway. And we have videotape so I can relive the parts I forgot! Something to show my grandkids one day... "Look Timmy! That's me on stage 45 years ago suffering what we called a 'blackout'. Sure had a lot of fun, son!"

Take care and I'll see you soon!

Where to begin...until learning of Dudeman's departure from the band earlier this year, I thought there were three certainties in life: death, taxes, and Dudeman standing on the right side of the stage busting what appears to be a move while singing Mickey.

I can still (amazingly) recall first seeing Velveeta on what so happened to be Dudeman's birthday in October of 1996. From that point on, I spent the better part of the next 3 years through grad school watching Velveeta two, three, and sometimes four times a weekend. The awesome memories of that period of my life are countless. Having always been a fan of live music and an avid guitarist, Velveeta - and Matthews in particular, allowed me to feel part of something I only wish I had enough talent to be part of...and I truly appreciate that more than John or anyone in the band could know.

I don't want this to sound like an obituary...it is just the beginning of the next chapter for Velveeta, and I know it will be a good one...I will still look forward to seeing the band play whenever I visit State College in the future. On that note, I wish the best of luck to Steve from BSG. I look forward to seeing you play as part of Velveeta the next time I head up to state.

On a side note, I just wanted to mention how cool it was to see the Zipper and the Summer of '69 guy singing with the band. It definitely stirred the memories and made the night better than I thought it could be.

Long live the Dudeman and best of luck to John, Megan, Faith, the dog, and the gimp that lives in the toolshed outback (kidding ;-). The best of times in your life are only beginning with the family...keep in touch dudeman.

Velveeta diehard,
Munch

Wow! Toph, you bring tears to my eyes! Thanks very much for the lyric.

I can't believe my last weekend as an official Velveetian is here. It really has been tougher than I thought it would be to come to grips with leaving Velveeta. I had a long time to prepare myself for it but I still get all misty-eyed thinking about it. Velveeta has been down a long, long road and I will miss my boys very much.

I know I'll be turning up at shows from time to time to make guest appearances and ROCK THE HOUSE but it won't ever be quite the same for me again.

To all the friends I've made through all the years, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR BEING THERE! I will miss you all terribly and I'll remember the good times forever - or at least until the next blackout ;)

I hope you'll all keep in touch with me so I don't feel completely left out of the social sphere in which I've spent the better part of a decade! I put my home email address at the bottom of this signing in case our webmaster (Biggity-Big-B) moves the link to my biography page somewhere buried and hard to find on the site.

Believe me when I say that I won't disappear from the face of the earth! Once a Cheese Head, always a Cheese Head. At the very least I'll have to check up on Steve Bentz to make sure he's doing a good job on bass and not screwing up too much. Speaking of Mr. Bentz, I wish him the best of luck in his new career as the bassman for The Cheese. I know he'll fit the bill perfectly and if I can offer him one piece of advice, it is this:

"Shot?"

I know Brian will kill me for bringing that up (especially after the Floating Stage show on 6/19) but "the shot" has been a tradition of the Velveeta rhythm section since time forgotten, and it's not a tradition that should end with me! Put that one in your pipe and smoke it, Bri!

Well, I've said my piece and I should go now.... remember all the good times! I know I will. I will miss my bandmates so much I can hardly define it. We're like brothers now and although we've had many fights and tough times, like any close family we've gotten through those times to become better friends at the end. I can already feel the loss, and I'll see them for my final road trip in only a few hours.

Best of luck to you, Brent, Brian, John, Mike and Steve, and to all our friends! I will miss you all terribly....

Hey boys,

Sean and I plan on being in town over Arts Fest, so hopefully we'll be able to catch you at Crowbar.

John, sorry we're going to miss your last show! I was hoping to catch you one more time. :( Best of luck to you.

Johnny-Boy

High above the mucky muck, castle made of cloud.
There sits Johnny-Boy, sitting oh so proudly.
Not much to say when you're high above the mucky
muck, Yeah!

Johnny-boy!
What is the secret of your powers?
Johnny-boy!
Why don't you take me far away from the mucky muck
girl?

Now it's time for me to tell you about young John
Marshell,
Arch-rival and nemesis to Johnny-Boy with powers
COMPRABLE to Johnny-Boy!

What kind of powers you ask?
I dunno, how 'bout the power to misspell a name?
That do anything for you?
That's Marshell-tation, Dudeman!
How about the power to switch a fairly common last
name with another fairly common last name...
and then completely misspell it...
With an "E"...?
That's the power to confuse you!

History of Johnny-Boy, a.k.a. young Dudemaaaan!
Riggah-goo-goo, riggah-goo-goo.
A bass god to behold, playing bass notes from his
soul.
And blasting forth with kick ass harmonies, yeow!

Johnny-Boy, what is the secret of your power?
Johnny-Boy, won't you take me far away from the
mucky-muck man?

Well, Johnny-Boy, a.k.a. Dudeman joined forces;
and formed a band the likes of which have never
been seen, and they
called themselves... Da Cheese. That's right,
It's he, (Bones, Mike, Brent), and Kriley!
That's me.
Behold, the power, of the Cheese!

Come fly with me, fly!

Johnny-Boy, what is the secret of your power?
Johnny-Boy, won't you take me far away from the
mucky-muck world?
Oh, Take my hand!
Young Duedman, and we'll fly!
Bring out your P-Bass.
There's the hydra.
Slice his throat!
And drop on him the funk bomb!
You take the high notes,
I'll take the low.
There, the crevasse,
Fill it with your mighty juice.

John,
You will be missed! Velveeta will never be the same
without you, but your legacy will live on! Looking
forward to your swan song Saturday. Rock on, my
friend, rock on.

Thanks guys for putting your live stuff online. I miss Thursdays at the Cafe! I graduated in May...I was psyched to see that you're playing on Wed the 19th at The Boardwalk in Pittsburgh. I'll definitely be there to watch, and just in case I can't get close enough to ask...WILL YOU PLAY CENTERFOLD? (I'm the one who ALWAYS asks for it at the Cafe.) Thanks in advance. You guys are great!

I just wanted to drop a note cause you guys are the BEST band in State College...and trust me I go out enough to know. (My weekend starts Wednesday and ends on Tuesday.) You guys should play "Sugar" a little closer to the beginning so that I'm not trashed when it comes on...the hair flip is soooo much better before i am completely toasted...
Luv you guys!

Thanks for sticking up for those of us who like band members. Just a reminder though this is a place to complement a wonderful band. Just ignore negative people, and worship the cheese.

Dangerous? Whatever. Dangerous people are people like you who can't just come to see a band and have a good time. Instead you have to stand there and make judgments about people who want to have a good time and enjoy flirting with a band member.
Who cares who/what Brent wants? People like to have a good time--that's why they go. Just because someone likes a particular member doesn't mean they are crazy.
So far as elbows, why don't you just stand in the back instead of near the stage and maybe you won't get hurt. And if you aren't having a good time, try leaving.

Brent will talk to anything with tits. I wouldn't be flattered if I were you...and you guys were great at Brownies, but Beavis and Butthead need to stop macking on the band and steer clear of any people so they don't know you unconscious with their flying elbows!!! The two guys who ALWAYS come out to see you (here and in State College) are dangerous!!!

We just got back from Brownies to see you guys play. It was awesome! Worth every hour we drove. We adore you all (Especially John and Brent) and will miss John with all our hearts. Itís so sweet that you talk to your fans, it means so much to us. Of course it makes me blush since I (Angel) have had a crush on Brent since the first time I saw him four years ago!
Love our Cheese,

It is reassuring to know that EVERYTIME my high school friends and I come home (to central PA) to see one of your shows we have even more fun than the last time. You guys rock and unfortunately (in our drunken state) we thought we did too! (I promise we will stay away from the stage next time.) See ya at 4D's in July!
