HEY VELVEETA! Is it true thursday's at Crowbar are 5 cent drafts, 5 cent well drinks from 9-11 with a 5 dollar cover? That's just crazy!

Hey, Curious! I'm horny too, but I'm not hot and I'm not
a virgin. Funny how opposites attract. Oh, and I'm not
24. As Barry Gordy sings, "Let's get it on!"

you're right this is not a political roundtable. save it for C-span
United States - March 23, 2003 at 11:17 PM EST
AMEN to OCD baby!!! This all sucks--but I remember vividly the day the WTC fell. We can't tolerate an attack on the most awesome country ever. This is not a site to bring your political views to, but we must support the troops and their families for a safe, and honorable return!!
United States - March 23, 2003 at 5:32 AM EST
OCD would like to vow support for our troops and our President. We realize that WAR is a necessary evil, and to remove those in power who shouldn't be, force must be used. This war is about oppression of innocent men, women and children. A tyrannical nut is in charge and needs removed before weapons of mass destruction are used on innocent neighbors. May God bless America, and watch over our troops abroad. The only things that we are ashamed of: the Dixie Chicks are from Texas, and they are popular. Let the good times roll, Velveeta!

Wow.....looks like the anual bashing of the bands contest has kicked off a little early this year. That's too bad. Let's reflect for a moment shall we? Ok, let's see now....Velveeta, entertainers for folks of all ages and generations. Musicians who play venues of large sizes such as The Post Gazette Pavilian and The Gorge In Seattle....entertainers for folks of all ages and generations. Do you think this is going somewhere? Why it sure is. Velveeta plays covers. Is that a big deal? Why of course not don't be ridiculous. And yes they do have a band within the band that keeps up with the times, and that band plays some pretty rockin stuff. Some people think they lack talent because they play other people's music. Have you heard any good rap lately? No. Why? Because they sample everything and change it. At least Velveeta keeps everything the way it was meant to be played. Fun. And besides how do you think every good band gets it's start? They all played the music they grew up with. I for one am greatful for Velveeta, not only because they have givin this "struggling singer" a chance to have fun on stage, but greatful for their friendship as well. They are a talented group of guys, and they are also a group of guys who take time out for their fans. There are a lot of groups out there, ones we have to pay up to one hundred bucks to see, that won't do that. It's like they say on tv, never underestimate the power of cheese. See you guys on Saturday.
PS: Kudos to entry 792 for backing up the band.
Moon Township, Pennsylvania, United States - March 10, 2003 at 9:38 PM EST
I was at a club in Altoona and someone requested "Cars", by Gary Numan and Steve had never played that song. So they went through it a little bit and learned it right in front of the crowd. They still sounded better than most bands who had practiced it. My opinion, these guys are excellent musicians.
Pennsylvania, United States - March 10, 2003 at 6:41 PM EST
Playing originals does not make you great or more talented than anyone else who plays music. If you've ever watched Velveeta and actually paid attention to the level of skill and musicality they bring to the stage (just watch Bones for awhile, for instance) you would see, dare I say, extreme talent. These boys have obviously been at their instruments for a long time and they play together very well, something that is not as easy as they make it look. Most bashers of bands like Velveeta are usually frustrated musicians or friends of frustated musicians who just wish that they could be doing the same thing.
I appreciate music and good musicians, doesn't matter what they're playing. If it's good stuff and done well, people will be there, whether "haters" like it or not. Velveeta has proven that for a long time, and I'm "grateful".
United States - March 10, 2003 at 4:23 PM EST
Pennsylvania, United States - March 9, 2003 at 10:00 PM EST
Well, if you peruse the website, you would see that they also have an original band that writes their own music within Velveeta. Until all these anonymouses can get up off their butts and do the same and be successful, you can't really have a valid argument. Yes, everyone works, that wasn't the point. They don't have to do this kind of work and if you are going to be an ingrate about it, don't make yourself miserable by going to a show! Find a band who does all original songs and sit in your seats staring because you don't know the song. Velveeta is fun, that's their point. They aren't trying to get a deal. Everyone needs to get off their damn soapboxes and resolve to use their love of '80's music only for good. Can we quit hatin'???
California, United States - March 9, 2003 at 9:39 PM EST
Extremely talented???? Talented, yes - but come on, they sing songs written and performed by other people! Two more comments - one is in regards to the fact that they work 3-4 nights a week to entertain people - that's great , but honestly, everyone works. Should we feel particularly greatful to them? Secondly - it was Mardi Gras and flashing is a tradition! Why would that consider someone a ho?
United States - March 9, 2003 at 7:12 PM EST
First and foremost this goes out to all the haters, whiners, and complainers especially #650 David Vidoff. You are not forced into seeing these extremely talented gentlemen perform. To say the least it is a privilege to see them perform so keep your baby fits to yourself. Ok sorry that guy really pissed me off guys. So how are you doing? I was really bummed that you didn't make to Scranton but that is water under the bridge.I cant believe it been over a year since I partied with you guys.
I have worn out your Cd from listening to it so much. Can't wait to see you guys, hopefully soon. Now this goes out to Bones , whats up man i wrote you a couple of e-mails waiting to get a response from you. Also to anyone who can answer this I know a band interested in arts fest and they want to know how they could get into it. I do have a Cd of them if someone from Velveeta wants to hear it. Let me know if you guys could. Miss all the good times and some bad at the Saloon and the Crowbar. Hope to party soon. Keep rocking and the hell with the HATERS, you guys rock!
Archbald burb of Scranton, Pennsylvania, United States - March 9, 2003 at 1:34 AM EST
I don't know exactly how many shows, but I figure about three years worth. you guys are the best and still the best show going. Thanks for the great memories.

Is it a stick or a string of beads?
United States - March 7, 2003 at 12:43 AM EST
Hey Anonymous Panther, get the stick out of your ass
Pennsylvania, United States - March 6, 2003 at 10:22 PM EST
IT WAS FAT TUESDAY!
You know----Mardi Gras!
Did you really expect anything less?
United States - March 6, 2003 at 6:30 PM EST
I mean if you are a ho-- you are a ho--it doesn't take velveeta to tell you that you are degrading yourselves. How about that for pathetic and we don't need to comment on what was little now do we...
Italy, United States - March 6, 2003 at 5:02 PM EST
Someone has some insecurity issues. A group of tremendously talented musicians, each in a long term sort of relationship, who work their asses 3-4 nights a week to keep people entertained are pathetic little boys. I guess college is a growing experience---hopefully it will happen for the anonymous chick.
California, United States - March 6, 2003 at 12:44 PM EST
Are you kidding me? ha!
United States - March 6, 2003 at 12:31 PM EST
I just have a comment regarding your show on 3-4 at Nick's. One of you stated something about it not being your fault that 'women were degrading' themselves by flashing your band for beads. We didn't feel it was degrading - we just considered it feeling sorry for you pathetic, little boys.
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States - March 6, 2003 at 11:18 AM EST
Hey boys! Thanks for picking Nicks for recording your next live CD-what a great way to show you appreciate your 'Burgh fans! Looking foward to next weekend.....coming from out of state just to be a part of it!

Owwww.......my head hurts.....I'm really, really, tired...was I onstage last night? I can't remember......kidding...anyhow last night was a lot of fun guys! Another great Velveeta show at Nick's Fat City. Thanks for letting me sing, I really appreciate it. It's always fun, although I was a little bit "feeling good" last night. Can't wait until next Saturday, and I plan on making sure that everyone shows up to be nice and loud on the CD. Have a good one.

Altoona, Pennsylvania, United States - March 2, 2003 at 10:42 PM EST
Gotta tell you guys, thanks for the onstage appearance on Thursday night. It's been a long time since I had a guest spot. And I still don't have my own gig yet...damn...anyhow, you guys were AWESOME! As always of course. SInce most of my friends were tired and being wimps, they missed out on a lot of fun. I'll be at Nick's Tuesday for sure and I'm thinking that's gonna rock as always. Steve...you are a hell of a bass player and you and Mike were nuts on stage. Worked great together, true professionals. Overall an excellent show, look forward to Tuesday, and I can't wait to see you for the CD recording at Nicks again the week after. YOu are still recording there right? Oh well, I've babbled enough. And now I have to find out who Twisted Sister, Anonymous, and Noel are....unless it's my friends being cruel.....See you guys on Tuesday. Again, GREAT SHOW! And thanks :o)

Can you make any sense out of that, Ms. Mia G? (are
you any relation to Pat Morita?

I went to my first Velveeta show this weekend and fell in love with the one singer with the long hair. I am not sure what his name is, but he sort of reminds of the guy from Flock of Seagulls (that 80s band-- I might be dating myself). Does anyone know if he has girlfriend-- I hope not! I was just wondering...

United States - February 16, 2003 at 3:05 AM EST
Dudes, floating stages are cool and all but you have to be careful. With the boats passing by making the stage rock, and too much drinky drinky and the lights flashing, oh God I think I'm gonna be...
Parts unknown, United States - February 14, 2003 at 11:18 AM EST
Hey Cheezie Weezie-- LOVE the name! But I do have to agree that the floating stage is one of the best cheese venues! Are there any floating stage plans in the making?
Italy - February 14, 2003 at 10:02 AM EST
Will you be my Valentine?
United States - February 14, 2003 at 12:11 AM EST
Thanx for all of the Pittsburgh shows coming up! My social calendar will be filled well into the summer. Any plans to play the floating stage again this summer? That rocked last year. Keep up the great work!
Pittsburgh, United States - February 14, 2003 at 12:09 AM EST
Well as much as I would love to come back to good old State College again, neither my finances nor my ass will permit that. I have no money and my butt has still not recovered from the last trip up there which took a record of SEVEN hours!!!!! I hate the turnpike! Oh well, it would have been nice to have him around because from what he told me he was a damn good chef. Guess it just goes to show you life is short. Live it up...happy v-day everyone!!
Philly, United States - February 13, 2003 at 10:12 PM EST
Moi, my friend and I were just dancin with these guys that had funny wigs on and they were with a guy who was celebrating his birthday.... But since your guy didnt have a wig, I think you're outta luck. Sorry. You'll just have to come back to the Saloon this Friday for V-day (not Valentines day...I like to call it VELVEETA Day!)
State College, Pennsylvania, United States - February 13, 2003 at 4:52 PM EST
No Amy, why would you ask that? Did you know the guys wearing wigs or something? As far as I can recall this one wasn't wearing a wig...he had blonde hair and blue eyes and was yummmmmy =P
Philly, United States - February 12, 2003 at 4:23 PM EST
Yes! All Pittsburgh fans... come to the Rhythm House! I know its a Thursday nite, but try anyway! I would like to see a nice turn-out so they will come there again! It is a great bar in the south hills! See you there!!!
Pittsburgh, United States - February 12, 2003 at 12:24 AM EST
in response to #726, was he wearing a wig and with a group of guys wearing wigs?
State College, Pennsylvania, United States - February 11, 2003 at 6:40 PM EST

United States - February 11, 2003 at 1:13 PM EST
Thank you so much for coming to the cellblock!! I'm a PSU alumni and I use to see you play every week--I miss those days!! A group of us are looking forward to March 29th!! I was starting to go through "cheese" withdrawal!! I should be able to make it to the 29th now!!
Pennsylvania, United States - February 11, 2003 at 9:46 AM EST
Ok, I know this is a shot in the dark, but it is worth a try. I am trying to find someone that I met at the Saloon on Friday night who was also from Philly. His name is Pete. I was too chickenshit to ask/ give a number and now I am kind of regretting it b/c he lives like 10 minutes from me. He was there with his friend who was celebrating his birthday. If anyone knows him, or where I can reach him, please reply to this message. I know this isn't a dating service, but like I said, it is worth a shot. Btw, the show Friday night was incredible! It was good to see John Matthews again too!!
Need someone's help!!
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States - February 10, 2003 at 3:02 PM EST
Sorry...let me clarify. No everyone in Pittsburgh, just the few that were obviously confused on the show date. I didn't mean to stereotype or offend the people of fabulous Pittsburgh!
Anyway, thanks for helping us New Castle girls prove the Pittsburgh guys wrong!
N.C., United States - February 9, 2003 at 6:53 PM EST
Heard Velveeta for the first time at the Cell Block this weekend. You guys are GREAT! Thanks for coming to Williamsport!!! Can't wait for your next visit during the week of my birthday....what better way to spend a birthday than listening to 80s cheese!!
