OCD would like to vow support for our troops and our President. We realize that WAR is a necessary evil, and to remove those in power who shouldn't be, force must be used. This war is about oppression of innocent men, women and children. A tyrannical nut is in charge and needs removed before weapons of mass destruction are used on innocent neighbors. May God bless America, and watch over our troops abroad. The only things that we are ashamed of: the Dixie Chicks are from Texas, and they are popular. Let the good times roll, Velveeta!

Wow.....looks like the anual bashing of the bands contest has kicked off a little early this year. That's too bad. Let's reflect for a moment shall we? Ok, let's see now....Velveeta, entertainers for folks of all ages and generations. Musicians who play venues of large sizes such as The Post Gazette Pavilian and The Gorge In Seattle....entertainers for folks of all ages and generations. Do you think this is going somewhere? Why it sure is. Velveeta plays covers. Is that a big deal? Why of course not don't be ridiculous. And yes they do have a band within the band that keeps up with the times, and that band plays some pretty rockin stuff. Some people think they lack talent because they play other people's music. Have you heard any good rap lately? No. Why? Because they sample everything and change it. At least Velveeta keeps everything the way it was meant to be played. Fun. And besides how do you think every good band gets it's start? They all played the music they grew up with. I for one am greatful for Velveeta, not only because they have givin this "struggling singer" a chance to have fun on stage, but greatful for their friendship as well. They are a talented group of guys, and they are also a group of guys who take time out for their fans. There are a lot of groups out there, ones we have to pay up to one hundred bucks to see, that won't do that. It's like they say on tv, never underestimate the power of cheese. See you guys on Saturday.

Chuck

PS: Kudos to entry 792 for backing up the band.

I was at a club in Altoona and someone requested "Cars", by Gary Numan and Steve had never played that song. So they went through it a little bit and learned it right in front of the crowd. They still sounded better than most bands who had practiced it. My opinion, these guys are excellent musicians.

Kevin
Pennsylvania, United States - March 10, 2003 at 6:41 PM EST

Playing originals does not make you great or more talented than anyone else who plays music. If you've ever watched Velveeta and actually paid attention to the level of skill and musicality they bring to the stage (just watch Bones for awhile, for instance) you would see, dare I say, extreme talent. These boys have obviously been at their instruments for a long time and they play together very well, something that is not as easy as they make it look. Most bashers of bands like Velveeta are usually frustrated musicians or friends of frustated musicians who just wish that they could be doing the same thing.
I appreciate music and good musicians, doesn't matter what they're playing. If it's good stuff and done well, people will be there, whether "haters" like it or not. Velveeta has proven that for a long time, and I'm "grateful".

Well, if you peruse the website, you would see that they also have an original band that writes their own music within Velveeta. Until all these anonymouses can get up off their butts and do the same and be successful, you can't really have a valid argument. Yes, everyone works, that wasn't the point. They don't have to do this kind of work and if you are going to be an ingrate about it, don't make yourself miserable by going to a show! Find a band who does all original songs and sit in your seats staring because you don't know the song. Velveeta is fun, that's their point. They aren't trying to get a deal. Everyone needs to get off their damn soapboxes and resolve to use their love of '80's music only for good. Can we quit hatin'???

Extremely talented???? Talented, yes - but come on, they sing songs written and performed by other people! Two more comments - one is in regards to the fact that they work 3-4 nights a week to entertain people - that's great , but honestly, everyone works. Should we feel particularly greatful to them? Secondly - it was Mardi Gras and flashing is a tradition! Why would that consider someone a ho?

First and foremost this goes out to all the haters, whiners, and complainers especially #650 David Vidoff. You are not forced into seeing these extremely talented gentlemen perform. To say the least it is a privilege to see them perform so keep your baby fits to yourself. Ok sorry that guy really pissed me off guys. So how are you doing? I was really bummed that you didn't make to Scranton but that is water under the bridge.I cant believe it been over a year since I partied with you guys.
I have worn out your Cd from listening to it so much. Can't wait to see you guys, hopefully soon. Now this goes out to Bones , whats up man i wrote you a couple of e-mails waiting to get a response from you. Also to anyone who can answer this I know a band interested in arts fest and they want to know how they could get into it. I do have a Cd of them if someone from Velveeta wants to hear it. Let me know if you guys could. Miss all the good times and some bad at the Saloon and the Crowbar. Hope to party soon. Keep rocking and the hell with the HATERS, you guys rock!

Thank you so much for coming to the cellblock!! I'm a PSU alumni and I use to see you play every week--I miss those days!! A group of us are looking forward to March 29th!! I was starting to go through "cheese" withdrawal!! I should be able to make it to the 29th now!!

Ok, I know this is a shot in the dark, but it is worth a try. I am trying to find someone that I met at the Saloon on Friday night who was also from Philly. His name is Pete. I was too chickenshit to ask/ give a number and now I am kind of regretting it b/c he lives like 10 minutes from me. He was there with his friend who was celebrating his birthday. If anyone knows him, or where I can reach him, please reply to this message. I know this isn't a dating service, but like I said, it is worth a shot. Btw, the show Friday night was incredible! It was good to see John Matthews again too!!

Need someone's help!!

Sorry...let me clarify. No everyone in Pittsburgh, just the few that were obviously confused on the show date. I didn't mean to stereotype or offend the people of fabulous Pittsburgh!
Anyway, thanks for helping us New Castle girls prove the Pittsburgh guys wrong!
